First Look Photos

One of the big wedding trends we’ve been noticing over the past couple of years is First Look photos. These are photos that capture the magical moment when a bride and groom first see each other at the wedding ceremony.

Traditionally, photos of the ‘first look’ are taken at the beginning of the ceremony, when the beautiful bride, in all her glory, walks down the aisle toward her groom. However, as one of the more stressful parts of the happy couple’s day centers around not seeing each other before the ceremony, a growing number of brides (and grooms!) are choosing to schedule their First Look photos prior to the ceremony. This provides an amazingly special moment for just the two of them. No anxiety. No expectations. Just a pure moment between a couple, filled with joy and love, which makes for the best and most memorable photographs.

There are plenty of benefits to planning a First Look photo, including:

• Adding another memorable moment to your day

• Taking pressure off an already busy day

• Enjoying a few minutes to yourselves, in a day where everyone wants your attention

• Spending more time with your family and guests by getting all the most important photos done before the ceremony
  

Of course, there are still plenty of couples who believe that First Look photos should be saved for the walk down the aisle. This is often based on their desire to respect the old traditions (and superstitions) that it’s bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her wedding dress prior to the ceremony.
